Great knitwear starts with great materials

working in peru gives us access to some of the world's most exceptional natural fibers and yarns, which have become the building blocks of our collections: pima cotton, alpaca, and merino wool.

We prioritize natural fibers for their biodegradability, how they feel and how they wear over time.  The right fiber can make a sweater softer without making it fragile, warmer without making it heavy, and more breathable without sacrificing structure.

Natural fibers have qualities that are difficult to replicate synthetically. They breathe with the body, regulate temperature, absorb and release moisture, and soften and settle with wear. Rather than simply sitting on the surface, they respond to the person wearing them.

why natural fibers matter.

They breathe.
Natural fibers help regulate heat and moisture, making knitwear more comfortable across changing temperatures and seasons.

They feel better against the body.
Fiber length, fineness and construction all affect handfeel. We look for yarns that feel soft and substantial—not slick, flimsy or overly processed.

They wear in, not just out.
Good natural fibers develop character with use. With proper care, they soften, relax and become more personal over time.

They perform naturally.
Wool and alpaca offer warmth and insulation without excessive weight. Cotton is breathable, strong and comfortable against the skin. Each fiber brings its own strengths to a garment.

They can last.
Quality matters as much as fiber content. Longer, stronger fibers and well-made yarns help garments keep their shape, resist excessive pilling and withstand repeated wear.

The yarn matters as much as the fiber

Not all cotton, wool or alpaca is created equal.

Fiber quality, staple length, twist, ply and spinning all change the way a finished sweater behaves. Two yarns with the same fiber composition can feel—and wear—completely differently.

That is why we spend so much time considering the yarn itself: its softness, strength, weight, texture, recovery and how it behaves once knitted.

Sometimes we work with exceptional existing yarns. Sometimes we source something new for a particular design. The approach may change, but the standard doesn’t.

It should feel good. Wear beautifully. And be worth keeping.
